Day 8 Uluru by Jess

So the plan for today was, ride camels, chill out, then do the star thing at night time, but this is how it turned out. This morning we were allowed to have a sleep in because the first thing we had to do was at 10 o’clock, but, I didn’t sleep in too much because I woke up at 7:45 and just stayed in bed for a while, whilst I waited for other people to wake up. When I got up, Bill and Dad were outside making us toasted sandwiches again on the fire. As soon as everyone had had breaky, we walked over to where all the action was at the camel thing. We started a bit late because we were waiting for a bus to arrive with more people. When the bus finally came, we went and they told us to pair up, so I paired up with Emmy and we were put on a camel called ‘Jack’. This is a picture of me and a Emmy getting on Jack.

We went on a ride that went for about an hour and on the ride we stopped at a stop where you could get your photos taken and have Uluru in the background. Here some photos of us on our camels

After the camel rides were over, I got a magnet that said ‘Uluru Camel Tours’. After we got our stuff, we went over to see the animals that they have out the back. We saw some kangeroo’s, an emu, goats, lambs, donkeys, geese, chooks and a water buffalo. After all of that, we went into town to have lunch. For lunch, we ate at the place where we have been eating the last few nights. While we were at the lunch place, we ordered pizza’s to take away for tea. After lunch we went for a bit of a look around the shops, and we went to a different set of shops than we usually go. We went there to meet Dad and Bill at the pub, and also to find Emmy a new drink bottle. We didn’t find the drink bottle that she wanted, so we went to the servo to see if they had any there, but they didn’t. Emmy didn’t end up getting a drink bottle. After that, we went back to our camp, and had a while to wait before quarter to 6 when we had to get the pizzas. We wanted to get the pizzas before sunset, so we could have them on our own little sand dune before the sun goes down. Here are some photos of us having tea on our sand dune.

And this one

After tea at 10 to 7, we drove into town to do an astronomy thing. First of all he talked a bit, then we all went for a walk out where it was dark, and so you could see the stars properly. He talked for a bit out there, but after he finished talking, we were allowed to have a look at all the stars through his telescopes. We saw Jupiter, Saturn, Mars and Venus. After that was finished we drove back to the float. When we got to the float, some of us had a shower, and the others stayed to look after Paddy. Emmy was holding Paddy, then paddy spewed all over Emmy. Here is a picture of it.

After some tears, we all hopped into bed. Goodnight.
