Day 16 - Three-Ways Roadhouse to Katherine by Tilly

This morning when we woke up, we walked over to the roadhouse to get some bacon and egg toasties for breaky. We also bought some souvenirs and Dad bought a book about someone who was sitting on the table next to us.

Dad gave him a CD and had a quick chat to him. Then we walked back to the float and split up into our cars. Today I went with Mum again so I could do my blog as we’re driving. We quickly fed Paddy and took a photo in front of this painting:

We’re now heading off to Katherine. We just stopped at the Elliot BP to get some more fuel.
We also saw another big road train that had 4 carriages.

We’re trying to get to Katherine before 4 o’clock so we can watch Tom Curtains show again like we did on one of our other trips. He’s also offered us to stay at his place again.
We just drove past a huge wirly wind which was kicking up the ashes from all of the fires that are on the side of the road. I was too late to take a photo of it, but it would have showed up well because the ashes that it was kicking up were black so it showed the shape of it.
We just stopped at the Mataranka Homestead to get fuel and some lunch. We walked to the pub to go to the toilet and got an ice-cream at a BP. Now we’re driving to Katherine.
When we arrived at Katherine, we went over to watch Tom Curtains show. He and Annabelle were running it and it wasn’t exactly organised, but that’s what I liked about it because it was so real and unorganised. He got a crazy horse off the truck a couple of hours ago and he was showing us how he breaks them in.
The show was about how to break in horses and dogs and he showed us plenty of other things such as;
How to get your horse used to something:

Singing a song on your horse while it’s laying down (the sun is a bit in the way):

He also invited Dad up for a song knowing that he’s a singer:

Introduced us to some of his animals:

Let us hose his water buffalo:

Taught his dogs to ride horses and work on the farm and to cut on his horse without a bridle:

Once the show was over, he let us stay the night at his place and come over to their shed thing and have tea there, but we felt a bit bad so we brought our own sausages to share. Then we talked to them for a bit and then let them go to bed because they had an early show in the morning.

When Jess went to go and have a shower, this is what she found in her cubicle:

She decided that she didn’t need a shower tonight knowing that it only wedged itself in a little crack and waited for everyone to go away again.
Now everyone is in bed and we’re about to go to sleep. Goodnight!
