Day 23 - Townsville by Bill

This morning I woke up funny because I set my swag up on a hill so I spent the night sleeping in the bottom of the swag. When I woke up I saw bin birds walking through the camp but they flew away before I could peg my footy at them. Soon after Mum woke up so we went for a walk around the big 4 and found the pool and tennis courtt. We then went for a walk along the beach which was just across the road.

When we got back a couple of girls and Paddy were awake so Paddy and I went and played on the tennis courts with the netball. When we got back to camp we got ready to go to  town to have breakfast and catch a ferry to Magnetic Island. We got to a fancy place for breakfast and had a good feed there, but there was heaps of seagulls there too who were also hungry. While we were waiting for our breakfast us kids played on a little zip line thing until Addy feel off and got dragged along with her bum scraping on the ground.

After breakfast we all had lots of fun throwing chips down beside people below us and watching all the seagulls fight for it and watch the people get cranky.
Because we had so much fun doing that, we nearly missed our ferry to go to Magnetic Island. We just got there and we went on the bottom deck. Within 20 minutes we were at the island and straight away we caught a bus to go to Picnic bay because all the other buses were full. Along the way we picked up a few people and dropped some off. Paddy loved not having a car seat or seat belt on.
on.

We got to Picnic Bay and we found the trees with hanging stuff off them so we swung on them until I got one that snapped on me.

We walked down to the beach where Ad, Pad and me had a swim and Dad went to the pub. We saw thousands of little fish of the jetty too and Emily and Tilly reckon they saw a turtle.
.

After our 40 minutes was up, we jumped back on the bus and headed to Horseshoe bay. On the way we picked up more people and dropped off more people.
We got there, saw a couple of shops and Dad got a beer and some seafood while we got a slushy. We sat on the sand for a bit then Dad and I went in the water.
Dad and I were mucking around trying to get each other wet (I sort of won) but Dad broke his back. While we were playing Dads back slipped out again and it’s only been getting worse. He tried a heap of different ways to try and pop it back in but it wouldn’t work. After that we got back on the bus to catch the ferry at Nelson Beach to get back to Townsville.
.

We made it back safely so we drove up a hill in the middle of Townsville which is the same hill Mum used to walk up with her friends after she finished work when she worked in Townsville. We got up there and walked for a bit to get to the proper lookout.

By then it was getting dark so we went to Coles to try and find medicine for Dad but we just came out with groceries. We had tea at Subway on the way out then we got back to camp.
Dad went straight for a hot shower to try and stop his back from aching but when he came back it started aching again. We are all showered up and now we are going to bed. Goodnight.
