Day 42 - Exmouth by Caroline

Everywhere in Exmouth is booked out because it is school holidays, so last night we had to stay in the overflow parking. This suited us, because there was plenty of room, and it was right beside the netball courts, with water, showers and toilets. The downside was that it meant that today we had to move the float into a caravan park, ( because that is the policy in Exmouth) and in the process, Big Tred copped his first bit of damage. He was scraped along some rocks, while we were trying to get into a pokey little camp site.

Actually Big Tred is having a few issues lately. The water has stopped working, and today the fridge has too. Danny is onto it though,  and we think a diagnosis has been made. We are just waiting on an opportunity to implement the cure.

Emily and Adelaide didn't quite master snorkelling at Ningaloo Reef yesterday, so we decided that we would do a glass bottom boat tour today.  It was great. The guide was very funny. He and his wife own the business, and they worked very hard. We saw all sorts of fish and coral, turtles and Ray's. All of my photos just look like green haze, but he gave us a cd of photos  that he had taken from his different tours. This is my best effort.

Adelaide had a go at snorkelling off the boat today, and was happy to quit once she saw one fish.

Emily couldn't be convinced to try again, and I think it's because yesterday when she finally agreed to get into the water with me, the first thing she saw was a stingray. That was the end of Emily's snorkelling experience.

Bill loved it, and you could hear his excitement through his snorkel.

Tilly wanted to like it, but kept getting frightened.

Jess and Danny enjoyed it, but didn't enjoy the cold.

After the boat ride, we had a look around town. There are lots of emus walking around Exmouth, and yesterday I watched all the cars wait while an emu crossed the Main Street.

We saw the big prawn

And the big chair... ( I remember a very similar photo with different Phegan kids sitting in it last year)

And the big whale shark...

It is bed time now, and I just forgot to take my towel to the shower.  I had to dry myself with a wet face washer and a dirty T-shirt. I am in bed and Danny is out making more friends.

Goodnight.
