Day 8 Erldunda to Alice Springs by Jess

Today we woke up at Erldunda and went to the shop. At the shop I got some souvenirs. Also at the shop there were some emu's and some kangeroo's. We saw the emu's but we didn't see the kangeroo's. This is a photo of Bill and I trying to pat the emu's.
We are on the road heading for Alice Springs. We are at Alice Springs and this is a photo of us in front of the welcoming sign.

I just got very exited because I saw a sign that said 15 more hours to Darwin. That isn't very far.
We have finally found a caravan park that can fit us. There isn't many places were you can sleep because there is a big car race tomorrow night and lot's of people are coming to watch it. It is called the Fink dessert race. It takes 2 days to do, and is about 220 k's each way. It has dirt bikes and rally cars. We might have a look tomorrow.

Just then we had lunch. For lunch we had sandwiches. After we ate our sandwiches we had to hop into the car because we were going to a Gorge . First we went to Wallace waterhole, but there wasn't much there so we turned around and went back.

The next gorgess name is palm valley. On the way to Palm Valley we saw a lot of brumby's. This photo is for you Charlie Clancy.

Before we got to Palm Valley, we went to Hermannsberg, which is where the Lutherans established an aboriginal mission in 1877. ( Dad helped with that bit!)

To get to the gorge we had to take a high clearance 4wd track, It was scarey and Mum and I thought it was very dangerous. Dad thought he would give it a crack. It looked like this....

When Dad told us to undo our seat belts and wind down our windows before we went through a deep creek, we got very nervous. So we decided to get out and walk after that.
There was a lot of water there. On the walk we saw a small Python sleeping. This is a photo of the python.

This is Palm valley gorge...We have finished the walk at sunset and on the way back we saw the sun set on to the Gorge. We took a photo of it and here it is.

We were on our way back but then we went and saw a famous aboriginal artist's house. ( Albert Namatjira) It is dark now. We have stopped at the subway in Alice Springs. We eat in at subway. When we finish eating we hop into the car and drive back to the caravan park. It takes us a while to get to the horse float because we couldn't remember were the caravan park was. We are now watching Harry Potter and then we are going to sleep. Goodnight.
