Day 14 Darwin by Caroline

It is our last day in Darwin today and this morning was spent battling with washing machines and girls hair.

Then the kids and I had a swim in the pool at the caravan park while Danny did something useful and very important under the float, but I'm not really sure what.

Then we made our way in to Casuarina shopping centre, on a mission to find another pair of shorts for both Danny and me, and a sun hat for Adelaide. It seems that because it is " the middle of winter" no shops supply shorts or sun hats at this time of year, only trackydaks and beanies, so we came away with neither. ( Danny did buy some shorts, but I think they are a bit modern for his liking).

The kids and I then went into the wave pool on the Darwin waterfront, while Danny went and sorted out the ute fridge with parts from repco.  It was good fun, with only a few minor injuries to Jess' knee, Tilly's thumb, Bills eyes  ( see photo below ) and Emily's head. Adelaide was more fearless than me, and enjoyed pretending to be the " soul surfer " ( one of their favourite movies)

Danny then came and joined in at the pool, then we made our way down to Mindle markets.
Bill spent some of the money that Nan gave him to buy some buffalo horns, and Adelaide spent some of hers on a rainbow skirt.
We then had tea on the beach with Maryanne ( Kateys sister ) watching the sunset.

After sunset we went and looked at the moon, Saturn and Jupiter through some high powered telescopes. This was pretty cool and Danny was convinced that Saturn wasn't real, it was just a sticker. I was convinced it was real.
I came back to the caravan park with Adelaide, Tilly and Emily, while Jess, Bill and Danny went around and saw Bug's new boat called the Ultimate Jack.
Bug and Jenny showed the kids a whale skeleton that they had found ...
And Jenny came to my rescue  by sending 3 pairs of shorts back with Danny. Thanks Jen.
